At a time of major changes brought about by Covid-19, Telefónica is beginning to think about the organisation's future work model and how working remotely will affect employees' social relationships. Faced with this question, the organisation sets us the challenge of how to strengthen the connections of each person with their colleagues and with the company in a hybrid work environment.
The project starts with the hypothesis generated by Telefónica on the relational model of the company itself. Telefónica shows us how the different relationships within the company are perceived.
The design sprint required to deliver a solution within one week. To do this, we based our process into Design Thinking principles. Since we were short on time, we divided the different design phases into days: two days for exploration and testing ideas with the client, and three days for the development, delivery and presentation of the solution. The time handicap left little margin for iteration, so we had to make decisions that would allow us to work as efficiently as possible.

To delve deeper into how working remotely affects employees, we created a survey of short questions. Thanks to the 34 responses we obtained, we were able to project the information into three employee personas.
This exercise allowed us to understand what employees' motivations are in terms of the optimal working method. The research results in three key insights to improve a hybrid work environment.
We began to ideate by brainstorming lots of ideas. After making a group voting, we came up with three main product-service ideas that we presented to the client. Thanks to their feedback, we decided to combine the first two opportunities into a single concept.
Once we had the idea, we began to ideate how we could give response to the key insights obtained in a plug-in type solution. Since we were short on time, we did it all in a rapid sketching session. We managed to design the user experience combining flow of user actions with its respective wireframes.

Having defined the flow of actions, we designed the visual appearance of the plug-ins and created an interactive prototype in Adobe XD to help us envision what the user experience would be like. As the plug-ins were to be integrated into the Google Calendar, we decided to keep the visual appearance of the elements as similar as possible, without leaving aside Telefónica's identity.
A service focused on generating social gatherings between employees remotely, in person or in a hybrid way. The calendar allows you to create social events of various categories, join open events, decide whether the event will be face-to-face, remote or hybrid, and even filter the invitations according to the work environment: your team, department, or the entire organisation. In this way, the service aims to enhance social interactions in a hybrid environment.
The plug-in aims to improve work synergy and communication management in the remote work team. In it, you first choose the type of worker you are: Owl (night worker) or Skylark (early morning worker).
Then, you create a calendar of your daily working routine: intervals when you are answering emails, times when you are likely to be in meetings, moments of concentration, or times when you are off work. In this way, we are helping to improve asynchronous communication in a hybrid working environment that is characterised by flexible working hours, where we can see, for example, which are the best times to co-work with our colleague, or when he/she is most likely to reply to an email.
